Jimmy Buffett loves Paris, shopping, “Haute Couture”, “le vin rouge francais” and “la cuisine francaise”.
So It was very exciting, when again two concerts were announced for September 2014 in the elegant La Cigale club in Paris by the top promoter – Gérard Drouot.
The second show on Saturday, was the non-seated one in the grand-auditorium, so it was the more exciting one to visit.
Already in the afternoon the lovely fans – the Parrotheads - were invading the bars and places in the lovely district of Montmartre with the beautiful Sacré Coeur church .
They were dressed in most colourful bikinis, shirts, trousers and bast-skirts.
A picturesque view!
When Jimmy arrived at La Cigale he welcomed in hyper-sympathic, natural manner some die-hard Parrotheads.
When the Coral Reefer Band started with “Brown Eyed Girl” and Jimmy hailed the stage there was thunderous applause.
He played first his electric guitar and it was specially Robert Greenidge on steel drums, John Lovell on trumpet and Eric Darken on percussion who enthused with their spicy “Rhum” sound playing. Their musical counterparts were the rockin’ men – Peter Mayer and Mac McAnally – on guitars.
The Parrotheads went crazy goin’ on dancin’ and singin’ as a shanty background-choir during“Changes in Latitudes, Changes in Attitudes”.
Jimmy was really strong by vocals and in best mood, he entitles transforming the show in a church-mass. “Volcano” showed nice calypso-reggae-rhythms.
Michael Utley on keyboard was great, he is also the musical director.
Of course JB’s mega-hit “Cheeseburger in Paradise” was one of the highlights.
He loves the Seine sights, Notre-Dame and he expressed l' amour he feels for one of the most beautiful capitals in the world in “He Went To Paris”, with hot percussion by Eric and great drum-grooves .
The time went by like if we were on a windy-speed-ride, “Margaritaville” was his special ceremony for his company and it was loudly celebrated by the Parrotheads.
Please come back to Paris soon on a “Lovely Cruise”.
Jimmy played this final song solo on his acoustic six-strings.
The show ended with a final thunderstorm-applause , Jimmy shaking hands and saluting the fan club.
The party continued all night long near the Sacré Coeur!
