Mary Gauthier rend un bel hommage au Grammy Award winning American Texas country and folk singer Guy Clark, décédé le 17 mai:

RIP to the master, Guy Clark.

He showed me how to use an acoustic guitar and simple words to carry an audience into an envisioned world of story and meaning.

I toured with Guy for a year when I first moved to Nashville, thanks to Keith Case, our agent and Guys manager. It was a year I will never forget. I sat the feet of the master, and learned plenty.

We played all over Texas, we played our way to North Carolina, then up and over New England, we played all over California, and up the coast to Seattle. We played Ann Arbor, Chicago, laying down the routes I now travel alone.
Night after night, watching Guys set, I saw the power of an acoustic guitar and chiseled words. No bullshit, no fluff, no meandering. On point, to the point, and purposeful. I watched him unplug his guitar, walk to the front of the stage, and sing The Randall Knife as an encore in Ft. Worth one night, and the entire theatre of 600 Texas cowboys were reduced to young boys thinking about their dads, tears rolling down their cheeks. Guy was a songwriters songwriter. His songs will live forever.

Guy Clark nous laisse 14 albums studio , une dizaine de live ou compil . et un bon nombre de titres que d'autres ont classé dans les charts: Steve Wariner par exemple avec "Baby I'm Yours"ou Willie Nelson et "Desperados Waiting For A Train", il est aussi connu pour ses duets avec Emmylou Harris ( 'Old Friends' e.a.).

Ce storyteller de ta trempe d'un Townes Van Zandt s'est éteint à Nashville des suites d'une longue maladie.

Emilio Navaira, né à San Antonio en 1962, était un spécialiste du Tejano sound.

Il a placé une dizaine de titres dans les charts du Billboard Hot Latin tracks, notamment 'No es el fin del mundo' ou 'Por siempre unidos'.

Sa disco compte une quinzaine d'albums. Il a donné son dernier concert le 11 mai avant de décéder 5 jours plus tard , sa femme le retrouvant sans vie chez eux.

Emilio avait 53 ans.

Le trompettiste de jazz Paul Smoker n'est pas décédé d'un cancer du poumon mais de faiblesses cardiaques.

Une gazette de New-York note " Paul Smoker appeared on more than 50 albums, both his own and with musicians such as Anthony Braxton. He also worked with notables such as David Liebman, Don Byron, Barry Altschul and Art Pepper."

Sa disco en tant que leader se chiffre à une douzaine de plaques.

Le décès d'Andy, batteur de 1991 à 1992 du band bruxellois Brain Damage And Death, emmené par Jean Louis 'Floch' Delvaux, a été annoncé sur facebook par le groupe et par des amis musiciens ( Jason Burtally) l'ayant côtoyé.

Il est mort il y a une semaine au Mexique.
